On Table 1, certain surface and ground water monitoring sites were 'suspended'. In this case,
suspended means that monitoring at a site will be discontinued until one year prior to final bond
release. The reason for suspension varies, but generally, a site is suspended if downstream, or down
gradient, sites exists. Following is a list of suspended sites, and the reasons for doing so.
- Surface Water Site SW- S2W -SG7 (WSH7, mid - Hubberson Gulch): Close by downstream site exists
(SW- S2W -FG1 (WSHF1)).
- Wells GW- S2W -6A2, 19A and 20A (WHALE -2, WHAL10 and WDAL1 U Close by downgradient wells
exists (GW- S2W -7A2 (WHAL7 -2) and DCAL -02).
- Wells GW- S2W -22A and 23A (WSAL13 and WSAL14): Close by downgradient well exists (GW -S2W-
21A (WSAL12)).
- Wells GW- S2W -3W and 3WC (WW3 and WWCU Wedge and Wolf Creek Coal wells upgradient of
mining area.
Finally, SCC intends on abandoning (that is, plugging and closing) certain monitor wells. Following is
the list of wells to be abandoned, and the reasons for doing so.
- GW- S2W -6A1, 6A3 and 6A4 (WHAL6 -1, 3 and 4): Hubberson Gulch alluvial wells are adjacent to
remaining well GW -S2W -6A2 (WHAL6 -2).
- GW- S2W -15OV and 1 S (WOV15 and WW 15): Wedge Overburden and Coal wells, better
downgradient (that is, more directly below the mining area) wells exists: GW- S2W -14OV and
14W (WOV14 and WW14).
- GW- S2W -160V, 16W, 18OV and 18W (WOV16, WW 16, WOV18 and WW 18): Wedge Overburden
and Coal wells, better downgradient (that is, more directly below the mining area) wells
exists: GW- S2W -170V and 17W (WOV17 and WW 17).
•
TR -69 15 -3a -15 Revised 4/10
