Seneca H-W Mine (Permit No. C-1982-057) <br />Permit Renewal Application No. 5 (RN-5) <br />Dear Mr. Anderson: <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, <br />Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on June 24, 2010, an application to renew an existing permit to conduct coal <br />mining operations at the Seneca II-W Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment <br />periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date of filing. <br />Seneca Coal Company, LLC proposes to continue surface coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land located <br />approximately 9 miles South of Hayden, Colorado. The permit area is fizrther described as follows: <br />T5N, R88W; All of Section 15; Portions of Sections 9, 10, 11, 14, 16, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 34, and 35 <br />T6N, R8 8W; Portions of Sections 14, 23 and 24 <br />T6N, R87W; Portions of Sections 17, 18, 19 <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Hayden Gulch., Hayden, Dunckley and <br />Mt. Harris. <br />This application is for renewal of the mining and reclamation permit for the Seneca II-W Mine for an additional five year permit <br />term. Coal extraction has been completed at the mine and continuing activity under the permit will be limited to reclamation, <br />maintenance, and monitoring. <br />A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the Hayden Public Library, 201 E. Jefferson Avenue, <br />Hayden, CO 81639-1813, and at the Division offices in Denver and Grand Junction. To provide written comments, or request <br />an informal conference, contact the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, <br />Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567, within thirty (30) days after the last public notice in the Steamboat Pilot.
