June 2; 2000- Clear water Nvas observed flowing out of thetriser at an al <br />s gallons per minute. Possible water sources: return flow fr?oom north de <br />around the steel riser, or flow into the pipe at grout holes ;el? or y whi <br />unknowm quantities of slurry grout prior to sending of the grout. <br />June 5, :000- Cleaned & replaced drain plates or bricks at the tower. Rei <br />casing into decant line at hole 3. Water level tests initiall}' indicated cha <br />water was detected above the pipe at Grout hole # 3, Watet flows were n, <br />reduced. ( 3 inch casing installed into 3 '/2' hole in the decafn.t.) Hole was <br />ultimately verified interception of decant, as waxer was displaced at riser <br />lowered the water table at the riser & exposed a boil at ground level aro <br />June 6. 2000 - Discussions held regarding new scenario. Decision made <br />decant tine such that low mobility grout plue could be installed. Decisio <br />grout hole r 2 for installment of lost mobility plug. <br />( <br />June 7, 2000- Hole 9 2 re-installed. Small void detected, w? ich seerninal <br />infiltration theory through access holes in the pipe at locations 20 2 & #3. <br />Hole ;? 14 was drilled in an attempt to intercept the north del cant line to n <br />15 was moved to the North 2 `. Hole = 15 ( Grout Hole # 4!) encountered t <br />decant at 10'. Grout was detected in the decant, however a void of appro. i <br />inches was discovered. <br />June 8, 2000- Pumped 2 -5-; 4 j d ) <br />oxtmate rate of <br />It. flow from <br />washed out <br />stalled grout <br />7-8 feet of <br />tested and <br />ver, which <br />the riser. <br />:) locate north <br />made to re-drill <br />verified water <br />avail. OpJe Lions were then <br />moved to the riser tower. 7.3 yards of low mobility grout spas injected grouthale <br />Upon completion of the grout plug, massive water flows wore detected he riser. <br />Ironically, only minor displacement occurred during the grout plug instal ation, <br />June 9.2000- Bricks on the tower were raised by DG/H$ <br />raised brick level even higher in an attempt to equalize the suspe tedhw tl plerel. <br />June 12, 2000_ Slurry grouting commenced at grout hole 0. water was, <br />operations. Grouting continued until: sand & water boils around the rise <br />stopped, when grout was measured in the riser itself, aad when pressures <br />psi.
