Memo to W. Erickson 3 21 April 2010
Geochemistry Review File No. M-1981-185
14) Section 6.3.3(1)(m). Please provide locations of ground water monitoring. The applicant must
monitor for a yet-to-be determined period of time after mining ceases to ensure that there are no
adverse ground water or surface water impacts.
15) Page 36 of the Christensen report states that dewatering may be required in the future to extract
deeper ore. Will the phases of mining proposed in the current plan extend below the water level, or
will mining below the water level be proposed in a future amendment? If in the current phase, please
provide a plan for handling dewatering effluent.
16) Exhibit D, Reclamation Plan: Please provide details of the tailings encapsulation, both physically
and chemically. For any mine waste deposited underground, DBMS will require accelerated
weathering tests of the final product to assess the leaching behavior of the material. The results of the
testing must be made available for DRMS review before any tailings product deposition proceeds in
the underground.
17) What is the expected final water level in the underground workings after mining?
