(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-2007-005
INSPECTION DATE: 06/08/2010
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS THM
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DRMS). The Riverside Parkway Pit is located approximately 1 mile south of
Grand Junction, Colorado southwest of Highway 50. The site is a 111 c operation. Paul Jagim of the City of Grand
Junction accompanied the inspector during the inspection.
The DRMS received a complete release request on June 1, 2010. The purpose of this inspection was to observe
conditions on the site and determine if a complete release of the site could be processed.
The site is inactive and most of the required reclamation has been completed at the site. All reclaimed slopes
appeared to be no steeper than the required 3H:1 V. The only reclamation component that must occur is the
establishment of adequate vegetation which may require one to two more growing seasons. The east side of the
operation has adequate vegetation established but the west (southern facing) side of the operation has inadequate
vegetation established. Therefore a complete release cannot be processed based on conditions observed during the
June 8, 2010 inspection.
The operator should be sure to stay on top of the weed control efforts in order to insure that the tamarisk observed on
the east side of the permit area does not get established and push out desirable vegetation at the site.
A few piles of trash were observed within the permit area. The operator stated that he plans to restrict access to the
site to unauthorized individuals by implementing a locked gate. Also, a compost stockpile was observed within the
permit area. A technical revision to include this area as a stockpile location for compost must be filed in order for
the stockpile location to be included in the final reclamation plan.
Photos that show the conditions observed during the June 8, 2010 inspection are included at the end of this report.
No problems or possible violations were observed during the inspection.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Travis Marshall at the Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone
no. 970-623-5596.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Paul Jagim
OPERATOR: City of Grand Junction
STREET: 250 North 5ch Street
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Grand Junction, CO 81501
cc:
?
