Mining & Safety <br />Pursuant to Section 513 of the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977 (SMRCA) <br />and the Federal Program for Indian Lands Regulations under 30 CFR §§ 750 and 773.6, the <br />Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSM) hereby issues a notice that on <br />June 16, 2010, application for a Significant Permit Revision for the King II Indian lands mine, <br />Federal permit CO-0106A, submitted by GCC Energy, LLC was deemed administratively <br />complete. <br />The existing King II underground mine is covered by Colorado State permit C-1981-035 and is <br />bordered to the West and Northwest by the King II Federal Indian land permit CO-0106A. The <br />Mine is located in La Plata County, Colorado, approximately 4.5 miles Southwest of the town of <br />Hesperus, Colorado. The Federal Indian lands permit area is, under surface lands owned by the <br />Ute Mountain Ute Tribe on the following lands; <br />Township 35 North, Range 11 West N.M.P.M <br />Section 19, lots 4, 5, E'/2SW'/4, SE'/4; <br />Township 35 North, Range 12 West <br />Section 24, lots 1, 2, SW'/4SE'/4; <br />Section 25, lots 1, 2, W'/2NE'/4, W'/2; <br />Section 26, SE'/4NE'/4, E'/2SE'/4, SW'/4SE'/4; <br />Section 35, NE'/4. <br />These lands encompass approximately 1,226 acres and are found on the USGS 7.5 minute <br />quadrangle maps of Thompson Park, Hesperus, Mormon Reservoir, and Kline. <br />The Significant Permit Revision proposes to add a 160 Acre Lease Addition contagious parcel to <br />the west central portion of Federal Indian lands permit CO-0106A under surface lands owned in <br />fee by the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe on the following lands; <br />Township 35 North, Range 12 West N.M.P.M North of the Ute Line <br />Section 26, E'/2SW'/4, NW'/4SE'/4, SW'/4NE'/4.
