Dear Mr. Sorenson:
In response to your letter dated June 9, 2010, please find detailed below Powertech's responses to the
request for additional information by the Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety (DRMS) in
order to complete its review of the Notice of Intent to Conduct Prospecting (NOI File Number P-2010-
011).
The NOI states that if areas with elevated gamma-ray responses are detected, that spacing
adjustments will be made to delineate the anomalous area(s). For purposes of the proposed
survey, what constitutes an elevated gamma-ray response? The NOI states that if anomalous
soils are encountered, additional 0-60cm profile samples will be collected and analyzed. For
purposes of the proposed soil analyses, what constitutes a soil anomaly?
Powertech Response: An anomalous area with an elevated gamma-ray response identified during
roving transects is considered one in which elevated gamma-ray values fall outside the 95% confidence
interval in a normal/log normal distribution of results. Such deviations would trigger an additional soil
sample in the anomalous area, as the elevated gamma-ray response is a direct result of soil
characteristics.
2. For what constituents will the soil samples be analyzed, and by what laboratory test methods?
Powertech Response: Soil samples will be analyzed for the constituents listed below followed by the
laboratory testing method.
Uranium (EPA Test Method SW 6020)
Radium 226 (EPA Test Method E 901.1)
Thorium 230 (EPA Test Method E 907.0)
Lead 210 (EPA Test Method E 909.OM)
