Ll <br />• <br />considered to be problematic with the vegetation species present at the <br />site. <br />The Umbarg 2 and 3 samples showed aluminum concentrations (4.9 -5.6 <br />ppm) at or slightly above the Munshower suspect levels. As with iron, no <br />metal symptoms were apparent in the vegetation. <br />The Lazear samples contained 44 -45 percent clay in their textural <br />analysis. This percentage exceeds the suspect level for Montana and is <br />borderline suspect for New Mexico (the only other state to specify a <br />numerical suspect level for clay). For this reason, and the variability of <br />depth and likelihood of encountering undesirable rock fragments, the <br />applicant proposes to exclude the Lazear soils from salvage for <br />reclamation. <br />Based on the results of soil sampling and field identification and <br />mapping, the Umbarg soils appear suitable for use in reclamation. If <br />disturbed, the Sanchez series soils can provide limited amounts of <br />suitable soil for reclamation. Lazear series soils, given their <br />concentration of clay and relative shallow and stony nature are not <br />particularly suited for reclamation.
