OF For For Wildlife-
For People
The Colorado Division of Wildlife (CDOW) has reviewed the Foidel Creek Mine Technical Revision Application
#73 (TR-73) request to conduct drilling, completion, and reclamation of mine dewatering borehole 19-Right and
associated mine transfer pipeline and ancillary facilities. This facility is to be located in the W1/2NW1/4SW1/4
of Section 9, T5N, and R86W in Routt County, Colorado. CDOW appreciates the opportunity to comment on this
mining permit application and would like to provide the following information.
This facility is located within Greater sage-grouse and Sandhill crane production areas. The overhead power
distribution line is a concern from the standpoint of providing raptor perches within critical grouse habitat.
CDOW recommends that some type of mitigation be required to discourage/prohibit the use of any new power
poles as perches. We also recommend that construction activities for this facility avoid the sage-grouse breeding
season (March 1 to June 30) to the maximum extent possible. Also noise from the pump and any other ancillary
facilities should be minimized to the maximum extent possible, especially during grouse breeding season.
We-have_appreciateA..the_gp opstnnity to provide comments on this technical revision application.
questions please contact District Wildlife Manager Danielle Domson at 970 871-2856.
7
Sincer'
James M.
