confluence will need to be monitored and repaired as needed.
An erosional rill/gully enters the YPM 5-1 channel from the
east, downstream from the YPM 5-lA confluence. Appropriate
maintenance and repair measures are warranted.
YPM 19-1/YPM 1-3 Vegetation cover is dominated by annual weedy species on the
hillslopes in the upper YPM-19 watershed, with a high density
of rills. Reseeding with contour drilling or tillage operations is
warranted, due to the poor initial establishment and extent of rill
erosion. On the hillslope west of the YPM 1-3 channel, a
"sinkhole" type failure 30-40 feet in diameter was previously
backfilled. There has been some recent settling that should
continue to be monitored and repaired as needed.
YPM 6-1 Holes in the TRM liner in a couple locations along the upper
TRM segment. TRM maintenance is warranted to avoid further
scour beneath the liner.
Pond 013 YPM-4, YPM 4-1, Drainage channels all appeared to be stable, and properly
YPM 4-2, YPM-17, constructed in accordance with approved design.
and Diversion 13A.
Pond 014 YPM 3-2, YPM 14 Stable rip rapped channels. Some isolated occurrences of bank
scour and minor side-cutting which may require additional
riprap placement. Continue to monitor.
There is however two specific locations within the South Pit area that are erosionally unstable and
will be excluded from the SL-2 Phase I bond release. These excluded locations are shown on the
attached Figure 3b - SL2 Phase I Bond Release Proposed Approval Areas and are described in detail
below.
The first exclusion area in the South Pit can be described as most or all of the disturbed land located
north of the YPM 6-2 corridor in the YPM 6-2 and YPM-7 watersheds. The exclusion area consists
of two acreage blocks (divided by a temporary maintenance road) totaling approximately 36.2 acres.
The specific area is described as follows:
The YPM 6-2 and YPM-7 watershed area of the South Pit not being approved for bond release
extends from the point where the SCC exclusion corridor for YPM 6-2 (SL-2 Map Exhibit A) meets
the undisturbed aspen block; from that point northeast along the southeast edge of YPM-7 to the
maintenance road corridor; then along the maintenance road corridor to the drainage divide between
YPM-7 and YPM-8 (approximately corresponding to the Section 17/20 boundary), then due west to
the actual disturbed area perimeter, then along the SL-2 Map A actual disturbed area perimeter south
and west to the SCC exclusion area boundary east of Pond 012, then along the outer edge of the bond
release boundary depicted on SL-2 Map A back to the point of origin. This area not being approved
for Phase I bond release is shown on the attached Figure 3b.
13
