Two outfalls are permitted under the CDPH&E permit. Both ponds discharged during March
2010, and the operator sampled the discharges in compliance with the sampling frequency. The CDPH&E identified
an exceedance of the Mn standard during the January discharge from outfall 004a. During the March 2010 the
measured value for Mn, 1190 ug/L, was below the daily maximum standard of 4700 ug/L. However the 30-day
average value, 1021 ug/L exceeded the 30-day average standard for Mn, 350 ug/L. The operator provided a copy of
the report to the Division in a timely manner. Please assure the Division that CDPH&E has been notified of this
exceedance in March 2010. Outfall 007a did not have any measured exceedances of CDPH&E standards during the
reporting time period.
Sincerely,
ital Protection Specialist II
567 ext. 8107
C:jhb/C80001/DMR/March 2010 DMR review.doc
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
