Part I <br />• Page li of 19 <br />Permit No. CO-0038024 <br />B. MONITORING <br />4. Preliminary Toziclty Investigation (Coat,) <br />If the preliminary tozicity investigation identifies a probable <br />toxicant and/or a probable source of toricity, the permittee shall <br />submit, as part of its final report results, written notification to <br />that effect to the Division. Within 30 days of completing the <br />preliminary tozicity investigation, the permittee shall submit for the <br />Division's approval a control program to control effluent tozicity, <br />and shall proceed to implement such plan within 7 days following <br />approval by the Division. <br />If no probable ezplanation for tozicity is identified in the 15-day <br />preliminary tozicity investigation, a Phase I Tozicity Reduction <br />Evaluation (TRE) is required. The permittee shall notify the <br />Division, as part of its final report, of its intent to proceed with <br />the Phase I TRE. <br />If tozicity disappears during the preliminary tozicity investigation, <br />the permittee shall submit written notification to that effect to the <br />• Division. The Division may require the permittee to conduct <br />accelerated testing to demonstrate the continued absence of tozicity. <br />If no acute tozicity is found to ezist, the tozicity incident is <br />closed. <br />5. Phase I THE <br />The Phase I THE performed by the permittee shall be in general <br />accordance with Methods for Tonicity Reduction Evaluations, Phase I, <br />Tonicity Characterization Procedures (Draft - June 24, 1988 published <br />y EPA, or in accordance wit proce ures approved by the Division. If <br />onlq one species demottstrated tonicity during accelerated testing. <br />then that species alone maq be used in The Phase I TRE. The permittee <br />has 45 days from the submission of the final report on the preliminary <br />tonicity investigation to complete the Phase I THE and submit a report <br />to the Division on the results of the studq. <br />If the Phase I THE identifies a probable toxicant and/or a probable <br />source of tozicity, the permittee shall submit written notification to <br />that effect to the Division as part of the report. Within 30 days of <br />completing the Phase I 7RE, the permittee shall submit for the <br />Division's approval a control program to control WET, and shall <br />proceed to implement such plan within 7 days following approval by the <br />Division. <br />• If the Phase I THE fails to identity a probable toxicant and/or a <br />probable source of toxicity, the permittee shall notify the Division <br />of its findings.
