0 EXHIBIT E •
Zora Gunkel Estate Pit#31
Reclamation Plan
a) Erosion control during and after mining: Depending on the specific site of the pit, a
diversion dike may be needed on the upper side to convey surface storm runoff from a
large block of loamy/sandy soils above the pit to a safe disposal site. Where it is possible
the A and B Horizons of the soil profile should be removed and stockpiled separately by
Horizon for replacement in the borrow area in the natural sequence when mining
operations cease. These stockpiles should be revegetated to protect the area from both
wind and water erosion during the mining operations. Seed mix and operations listed in
the revegetation portion of this plan should be followed.
b) Top Soiling: As mining is completed the side slopes should be sloped 3:1 (33%) or
flatter depending on the equipment scheduled to be used during the shaping, top soiling,
and grass drilling operations. Slopes of 3:1 or flatter greatly facilitates equipment
operation and operator safety. The stockpiled topsoil and supporting horizon (s) should
be enough to cover the shaped borrow area walls, eight to twelve inches (8" to 12") or
more are needed to provide a suitable growth media for the revegetation planned.
c) Seed mix:
1) The following species are suggested and drilled with a grassland drill:
Sand Bluestem 169 per acre pts
Blue Grama 1.2# per acre pis
Side Oats 2.7# per acre pls
Western Wheat 16# per acre pls
*pls = Pure live seed
Grass seeding planned form CO-ECS-5 has been completed and is in the appendix. This
form provides technical data on fertilizer, mulching, and grass veriety, species, planting
rate and percent of the mix.
If broadcast seeds, double the amounts. If seed mixture is pre-blended, calibrate drill
based on required, seeding rate for Blue Grama and Side Oats. For total pure live seed
lbs. multiply by acres to be drilled.
8
