LINCOLN COUNTY PITS
TECHNICAL REVISION
WEED CONTROL PLAN
For the past six years the Lincoln County Weed Control Coordinator, Wayne Shade, has
conducted yearly inspections of all active Lincoln County sand and gravel pits looking
for weeds on the Colorado Noxious Weed List. Any species identified from any of the
three lists; the A, B or C species will be immediately treated with the appropriate
pesticide to eradicate the weed. In some cases if the infestation is minor the species may
be eradicated by hand in order to protect the surrounding native grasses and forbs. The
inspections of Lincoln County gravel pits take place from April to October or the first
frost. The weed control officer conducts these inspections while travelling Lincoln County
Roads to control noxious weeds growing within our easements. The spraying only takes
place when weather conditions permit.
This technical revision applies to the following active Lincoln County sand and gravel
pits:
1.
