J <br /> Introduction <br /> This document is the decision package prepared by the Colorado Division of <br /> Minerals and Geology (the Division) for the New Horizon Mines . This document <br /> includes: 1 ) the proposed decision to approve with stipulations the permit <br /> renewal application; 2) a summary which includes a history of the review of <br /> the permit application, a description of the environment affected by the <br /> operation and a description of the mining and reclamation plan; and 3) the <br /> written findings of compliance the Division has made as required by the <br /> Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act. Detailed information concerning <br /> the findings of compliance can be found in the Regulations of the Colorado <br /> Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining. <br /> The Division has received an application for a permit renewal to conduct <br /> surface coal mining and reclamation operations at the New Horizon Mines. The <br /> application was submitted by Western Fuels-Colorado. A Limited Liability <br /> Company. The Mine will be operated by Western Fuels-Colorado. The mine is <br /> located on private lands within Montrose County, Colorado. The legal <br /> description of the lands included within the permit area is : Mine 1 Area: <br /> Portions of S 1 /2 , Section 25, portions of N 1 /2, Section 36, Township 47 <br /> North, Range 16 West and portions of NW 1 /4, SW 1 /4; SW 1 /4, NW 1 /4, <br /> Section 31 , Township 47 North, Range 15 West, containing 426.6 acres , more or <br /> less . <br /> Mine 2 Area: E 1/2, NW 1 /4; W 1/2. NE 1 /4; W 1/2, W 1 /2, SE 1/4, NE 1 /4; <br /> and portions of NE 1 /4. SW 1/4; NW 1 /4, SE 1 /4; NE 1 /4, SE 1/4; and N 1/2, <br /> SE 1/4, SE 1/4; all in Section 6, Township 46 North, Range 15 West, containing <br /> 220 acres, more or less . The total permit area would encompass 646.5 acres , <br /> more or less. <br /> -1- <br />
