C7
6.2 Recommendations
This study has shown that it is possible to develop a set of mains under Terror Creek
without significantly impacting the stability of overburden rocks. The study also
identified changes in depositional environment to the west where some reduction in RQD
and in seam thickness is seen.
The following geotechnical activities are recommended for verifying the assumptions of
these analyses and for development of detailed designs:
• Additional drilling and core testing to determine tria.xial strength properties of the
Upper B Seam.
• Measurement of the far -field stress regime, preferably using a downhole
overcoring method.
• Design of prudent excavation and support techniques, including cut depth, entry
shape, support designs, timing of support installation, groundwater control, etc.
• Geotechnical monitoring of near -seam strata during development of the mains for
monitoring stability and support effectiveness.
• Monitoring overburden response during mining by analyzing results from TDR
measurements.
• Prudent longwall layout designs in the vicinity of the corridor.
C
Maleki Technologies, Inc.
