• <br />Attachment A <br />Measures to Protect Federal Resources on NFS, Lands <br />Bowie Resources, TR-53, Dewatering Well <br />r? <br />?J <br />1. The Operator will be responsible for controlling noxious weed infestations on all NFS <br />project disturbance areas from the date of discovery up to the point of release of the <br />CDRMS reclamation bond and associated reclamation liability. Any herbicides used <br />must be USFS approved and will be applied at the recommended rates by a certified <br />applicator in compliance with State laws. <br />2. Any hay or straw used shall be certified as weed free. <br />3. To support the post-mining land use, reseeding will be performed as outlined in the <br />current District's Seed Mix: <br /> <br />Habitat type <br />Elevation <br />Species <br />Lbalacre (PLS) % of Mixture <br />Mountain <br />Shrub 7-8,000 Mountain Bromegrass 4 20 <br /> Prairie June rass 3 1s <br /> western wheal grass 4 _ 20 <br /> Indian Rice rass 3 15 <br /> Sandberg blu rass 3 15 <br /> Bluebunch <br />wheat grass 3 15 <br /> Total 20 100 <br />The above grass species may vary slightly dependent on the particular held site. The mixes will <br />be customized per location to optimize reclamation success. <br />The abovo seed mixes will also include a mix of native forts from the following fist: Coreposis <br />.lancelota, Lupinus argentus, Phlox drummondii, Thermopsis Montana, Penstemon sirictus, Vicia <br />amerfcanus, Aahillaa millefolium var. occidentalls (at a very low rate), Astor chilensis, Edgeron <br />specfosus, Eriogunum umbellatum or Geranium viscosissimum. <br />The precise (orbs to be included will be prescribed on a case-by-case basis, as the particular site <br />conditions dictate. At least 3 forb species will be Included in each mix. <br />The seed mix must be 99% pure live saed and be weed flee. <br />4. Harassment of livestock and wildlife is prohibited. If stock is in the project area, extra <br />precautions must be taken by the operator and their contractors to ensure that stock are <br />not pushed out of the currently occupied grazing unit. <br />5. The Operator will be held responsible for all damage to fences, cattle guards, resource <br />improvements, roads, and other structures on NFS lands that result from their <br />operations. The Forest Service must be notified of damages as soon as possible. <br />6. Surveys for raptors shall be conducted prior to surface disturbing activities to determine <br />locations of individuals or populations of these species. This applies specifically to <br />goshawks, peregrine falcons, and golden eagles but may apply to other species if <br />located during surveys. <br />• 7. No activities shall be allowed within % mile of an active northern goshawk nest from <br />March 1 to July 31 if they would cause nesting failure or abandonment (LRMP III-26)
