I • 2.05.3
•
TR -30
Rp('ZO E)
3/- sV6 4
Of the 190,300 cubic yards originally inventoried as available to salvage the
Operator was only able to salvage 87,600 cubic yards. The operator believes the
reason for this difference is as follows:
1. The rocky soil made topsoil salvage very difficult.
2. The steep terrain made topsoil salvage very difficult.
3. The soil survey assumed a constant topsoil depth of 30- inches over
approximately 40 acres. The topsoil depth actually varied substantially from
a few inches to a few feet.
The operator believes all reasonably available topsoil was salvaged.
The 87,600 cubic yards of topsoil was initially located in three topsoil stockpiles as
follows:
11
1 Pile A
Pile B
Pile C
Quantity CY
83,300
2,800
1,500
Stockpiles B & C were subsequently relocated to stockpile A during the downhill
conveyor project.
During the construction of the parking area for the office and the nearby slide repair,
performed late 1998, approximately 4,200 cubic yards were salvaged. Additionally,
an estimated 20,100 cubic yards was salvaged from the disturbance associated with
the downhill conveyor project. After the downhill conveyor project was complete,
the following topsoil is projected to be available for reclamation.
During the construction of the B -Seam portals and the preparation plant
approximately 43,000 cubic yards were salvaged. The available topsoil for
reclamation is as follows:
The 5,300 cubic yards of topsoil salvaged during the construction of Pond C and the
gob pile is stored in topsoil stockpiles D and E.
