Galleta is a desirable forage plant for cattle, horses, and sheep, particularly when used
during late spring and summer. It is also used to some extent by deer and antelope. It can
withstand heavy grazing. It is useful for roadside seedings, campground, and picnic areas
because it endures trampling. It is considered to be an excellent plant for erosion control on
semi-desert sites.
USU Extension I Intermountain Herbarium I College of Natural Resources
USU
Contact Webmaster
Copyright 2002
http://extension.usu.edu/range/Grasses/gaileta.htm (2 of 2) [11/22/2009 12:43:46 PM]
Sandberg Bluegrass
Sandberg Bluegrass
Common Name(s):
Sandberg bluegrass
Scientific Name:
Poa secunda J.
