EXHIBIT G
WATER INFORMATION
EAST BRADBURY PIT
This operation is not expected to directly affect surface or ground water. Surface drainage
form the mined are and the stockpile site will remain within the pit. There are no known
aquifers within the affected area of the proposed permit.
Water resources in the area of the operation include Kannah Creek which is located
approximately on half mile north of the site and the Smith Ditch which is located
approximately 500 feet north of the site. The site is located along the top of a ridge which
sloped from east to west at less than two percent and breaks off sharply to the north and
south along the edges. The water table elevation of the site is well below the level of the
mining operation.
Surface drainage of the previously mined area and the stockpile site drains to the
southwest corner of the existing pit where it ponds. When the mining is completed, the
area will be left as a bowl sloping from east to west. Surface runoff within and adjacent
to the pit will continue to pond in the west end of the pit where it will seep into the
adjacent gravel layer and or evaporate. A small berm will be constructed along the east
side of the pit to divert surface runoff from the Azcarraga property from entering the pit.
The estimated quantity of water required during the mining operation is 21,000 gallons
per day. The maximum annual water requirement is 1260 M gallons. Water will be used
for dust control.
Water can be obtained from Kannah Creek during the spring runoff. Other times of the
year if can be purchased from the City of Grand Junction or Grand Junction Pipe has
water rights on the Gunnison River. Only one water source will be used at a time.
An Application for Stormwater Discharge Associated with Sand and Gravel Mining and
Processing will be filed with the Colorado Department of Public Health and
Environment, Water Quality Control Division a minimum of thirty days prior to
construction of the haul road.
