EXHIBIT D <br />MINING PLAN <br />EAST BRADBURY PIT <br />The East Bradbury Pit is located on a ridge approximately one half mile south of Kannah <br />Creek on the east side of State Highway 50. <br />The total area of the affected land of the proposed permit contains 129 acres. This total <br />includes 29.3 acres of Permit No. M-2000-157 which is a 111 Permit. All but 3.5 acres <br />of this permit were disturbed when the pit was originally mined. <br />Mining will be done using front end loaders, hydraulic excavators, dozers and trucks. The <br />mining operation consists of stripping the topsoil and overburden above the aggregate <br />deposit The stripped material will be stockpiled and later used for backfill of slopes. The <br />top 6 to 8 inches of the soil will be stockpiled separately from the overburden for later <br />use in the reclamation of the disturbed area. The aggregate deposit will be mined using <br />front end loaders, hydraulic excavators and trucks. A 24 feet wide gravel haul road will <br />be constructed form a new access point on Highway 50 to the gravel pit. The two existing <br />access to Highway 50 will be abandoned after the haul road is constructed. <br />The mined aggregate will be crushed on site into construction material for roads, pipe <br />bedding and other related materials. An asphalt plant may operate on the site if there is an <br />overlay project on Highway 50 in the vicinity of the pit. <br />No mining will take place until mid 2011 or early 2012. The pit will be mined in phases <br />starting where the mining was discontinued under Permit No. M-2000-157 and proceed <br />to the east along the top of the ridge. Each phase will contain between 8 and 16 acres and <br />take 2 to 3 years to remove the processed gravel in each phase. The estimated life of the <br />mine is 15 to 20 years. <br />The depth of the topsoil and overburden is three to four feet. The depth of the gravel <br />deposit varies from 8 to 12 feet with the underlying material being shale. <br />If it is determined during the mining of the northeast corner that surface drainage will not <br />remain within the pit, a berm will be constructed to keep the runoff within the pit. Surface <br />drainage from the area being mined and the stockpile site will pond in the low portion of <br />the previously mine area. See Exhibit G. <br />A 42" RCP culvert will be used for the Smith Ditch crossing. <br />No explosives will be us in conjunction with the mining of reclamation. <br />The primary and only product to be mined is sand and gravel.
