Signs should include <br />appropriate identification of all cooperators. The Forest Service shield shall <br />be used for Forest Service identification. It is also appropriate to use <br />cooperators' logos as their identification symbol; however, the size of their <br />logo shall not exceed the size of the Forest Service shield. <br />Placement. Locate the sign to be consistent with the placement criteria <br />listed in the chapter that relates to the specific type of sign to be erected. <br />9.2 Commercial and Noncommercial Enterprise Signs <br />Commercial enterprise signs are for private commercial developments or <br />commercial public service establishments on lands inside, adjacent to, or on <br />National Forest System lands. This may include signs for <br />recreation residences, organization camps, private clubs, lodges, and shelters. <br />Figure 9-2 shows examples of both commercial and noncommercial signs. <br />Unless specifically identified, signing principles are the same for both <br />commercial and noncommercial enterprises. Authorize signs through a special <br />use authorization pursuant to FSM 2700. In most cases, the authorization <br />holder is responsible for all costs associated with the signs. Furnish general <br />signing guidelines to the holder early in the planning process. For most <br />commercial enterprises, develop a sign plan with the holder and make it part <br />of the special use authorization. <br />In the case of commercial public service providers on National Forest System <br />lands, develop a sign plan for the entire site. <br />All signs shall follow the standards and guidelines contained in this chapter and <br />other appropriate chapters of these Guidelines. <br />Consider and include, where appropriate, signing for persons with disabilities. <br />See Chapter BA for guidelines-and examples.
