inch openings or four (4) 24 -inch openings will be inserted through the berm around PS -2 to convey
surface runoff from the pit floor and access road into PS -2.
r
L J
•
•
2.0 Certification
The Portal Area Sumps are a non - discharging system. The capacity will be created by excavating the
sumps in the native material of the portal pit floor. The water level and storage volume in PS -2 will
be controlled by large - capacity pumps. Sediment will be cleaned out of the two sumps as necessary.
Because the sumps are not sediment control structures with embankments they were not designed to
specifically meet the requirements of Rule 4.05.6 or Rule 4.05.9. However, the design accounted for
the requirements of Rule 4.05.9 as appropriate. Map 2.05.3 -E2.F, Portal Area Sumps, shows the
design configuration. I have reviewed the design documents and to the best of my knowledge, based
on my professional expertise, the Portal Area Sumps were designed in accordance with prudent state-
of -the -art for excavated impoundment structures.
O : ' \ W. •• F
U o326046i
/// /////1I I I I I I I I l I1\ \ \ \ \ \\
Mme_ r Wd
r W /6
D to
Colorado P.E. 26046
2.05.3 -E2.F3
12/09
