MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-19855-10.5_
INSPECTION DATE: r,/18.110 INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: MA(
OBSERVATIONS
The inspection was conducted by Michael Cunningham of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
(Division). Kenneth Morrison and David Seymour of Lincoln County were also present for the inspection. The
Harold Eichman Gravel Pit is located 10 miles south of Hall Station, Colorado. The site is permitted for 9.9
acres and the post-mining land use is pastureland.
The permit sign was posted at the entrance to the site and the boundary of the affected area was clearly
delineated. The site was not being mined at the time of the inspection; the county uses the pit intermittently. The
mining operation is located within the channel of Pond Creek; there was no water in the creek at the time of the
11Jpectlo n. Topsoil i."i. rwL being salvaged at thi,- operation, but `f'ill be ii?'lported prior to reclamation of the site.
The Operator has placed berms at the upstream and downstream ends of the pit in order to control stormwater
runoff. The berms are functioning properly; sediment is not leaving the site.
The pit walls have generally been mined at 2H:1 V or flatter. Several sections of the pit walls would require
rough grading to reduce the walls to final grade. Several stockpiles of product are located near the center of the
pit. No equipment or processing facilities were present at the site.
No problems or possible violations were noted. This concludes the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Kenneth Morrison
OPERATOR: Lincoln County
STREET: P_0_ Box 39
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Huoo CCU 80891
