Peabody Sage Creek Mine — Drainage and Sediment Control Plan
•
•
•
the South Surface Facilities and Portal Area. Operations runoff ditch and culvert designs for both
facilities areas are found in Appendix 2.05.3 -E2.G, Operational Ditch and Culvert Designs.
1.2 Postmine Drainage Control
The postmine drainage control plan is shown on Map 2.05.4 MI, Postmine Topography. Most of the
postmine drainage channels are existing channels originally constructed as part of the reclamation
activities for the closed and reclaimed Seneca II Maine — the channels generally collect surface runoff
from closed and reclaimed operations areas and route the surface runoff to the existing ponds.
With the exception of PL -1, CDRMS has approved all of the drainage channels in the Pond 002
watershed east of Road "A ", the upper portion of Road "Al" and Road "E" in the closed and
reclaimed Seneca II mining area as permanent, postmine channels. There are also several existing
Seneca II Mine channels south of the South Surface Facilities Area that also are approved as
permanent, postmine channels. Existing channels PM -1 and PM -15 have been redesigned for the
Peabody Sage Creek Mine operations. There are several existing road ditches from the historic
Seneca II operations that are included in the postmine drainage network but have not yet been
approved as permanent, postmine structures. All of the channels in the Pond 004 watershed have
been approved by CDRMS as permanent, postmine channels. There are no approved postmine
channels in the Pond 003 watershed.
The following list presents the existing Seneca II mine channels in the Peabody Sage Creek Mine
permit area that are approved by CDRMS as permanent, postmine channels:
• SII PM -1
• SII PM -2
• SII PM -3
• SII PM -4
• SII PM -5
• SII PM -6
• SII PM -6a
• SII PM -6b
• SII PNI -7
• SII PIV1-9
• SII PTV[ -10
• SII PM -11
• SII PTV[ -12
• SII PNI -14
• SII PM -15
• SII PM -16
• SII PM -17
• SII PM -18
• SII PM -19
• SII PM -20
• SII PM -21
• SII PM -22
• SII PM -23
In addition to the permanent channels the following culverts and stock ponds, approved by CDRMS
as permanent drainage structures under the Seneca II Mine permit, are in the Peabody Sage Creek
Mine permit area and will be utilized as part of the postmine drainage control plan:
Culverts
• Al
•
T17
• 2A
• A3
•
T20
• 2AA
• A4
•
T26
• 29A
• A5
•
T28
• 30A
•
T29
• 32A
Stock Pon
•
T30
• 33A
• T3
•
T31
• 45A
• T4
•
T32
• 47A
• T8
•
T33
• 62A
• T16
2.05.3 -E2.4
