Seneca Coal Company Weed Management Plan
t
Seed Mix for Permanent Revegetation
(Continued)
Species Characteristics and Adaptability
Xeric Sites: All species
Mesic Sites: Agropvron smithii A. trachycaulum Bromus Dactylis
Elymus cinereus Poa ampla Stiva viridula Medicago
Aster Achillea Lupinus Prunus Amelanchier
and Symphoricarpos
Clay to Sandy Textured Soils: All species
Soils Coarser Than Sandy Soils: Agropvron dasystachyum A. spicatum Festuca Poa,
Penstemon Lupinus Prunus Amelanchier and Purshia
Cool Season: All species except Medicago Achillea and Aster
Warm Season: Medicago Achillea and Aster
Rhizomatous Species: Agropvron dasystachyum A. smithii Poa compressa Achillea
Aster Prunus Amelanchier and Symphoricarpos
Species substitutions will only occur when availability of any of the listed species is a problem. The
species listed in Seed Mix No. 1 have been selected for normally consistent availability. However,
adverse environmental conditions and excessive market demand may occasionally limit supplies.
For species that have several developed cultivars, alternative cultivars will be evaluated for
substitutions. When cultivars are unavailable, regional native sources will be used. Complete lack
of availability will normally be limited to the native forbs and shrubs listed. Substitutions in this case
will be determined by reviewing the native species list and selecting adapted and desirable native
species replacements offered by seed dealers. Any substitutions will be noted in the Annual
Reclamation Re
E
January 2005
