field on October 27, 2009 following a field review by the US Army Corp of Engineers, Regulatory Project Manager,
Colorado West Regulatory Branch. Delineation of wetlands proceeded through survey on foot during which formal
wetland sampling was conducted as needed to verify wetland status. For each wetland sample taken in the field, a copy of
*he Wetland Determination Data Form — Arid West Region was completed. The data forms filled out during the course of
this study are presented in Appendix A. Information on these forms relating to observations of vegetational, soils, and
hydrologic conditions present at a sample location was recorded as described below in the corresponding sections.
Following survey, flags were removed to prevent livestock from attempting to ingest them.
Wetland mapping proceeded in accordance with the criteria set forth in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE)
Regional Supplement to the Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual: Arid West Region (U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers, 2006) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE) Regional Supplement to the Corps of Engineers Wetland
Delineation Manual: Western Mountains, Valleys and Coast Region (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 2008). In
accordance with these guidelines, assessment of vegetation, soils, and hydrology was conducted to determine the presence
or absence of wetland conditions for the purpose of their potential regulation under provisions of the Clean Water Act.
Photographs of the project area and wetland delineation soil pits are included in Appendix B.
Vegetation
•On Wetland Determination Data Forms — Arid West Region (Appendix A), plant species present at wetland sample sites
were listed and an estimate of the percent cover afforded by each plant species present was noted on the sheet. The
wetland indicator value of each species was annotated using the 1996 "National List of Vascular Plant Species That Occur
in Wetlands" (Reed, 1997). In this publication, plants that are known to occur in wetlands are assigned a wetland
indicator status in accordance with the following scale:
