• Canada thistle was found in the Sagebrush and Improved Pasture Affected areas This
• species likewise has occurred in the Seneca II Mined and Reclaimed Land and it has been
the target of weed control efforts.
Livestock Carrying Capacity
Livestock carrying capacities for cattle based on study production data from 2008 would be
estimated as follows.
Mountain Brush Affected Area - 0.453 aum /ac
Mountain Brush Extended Reference Area - 0.471 aum /ac
Sagebrush Affected Area - 0.599 aum /ac
Sagebrush Ext. These areas located along the portion of Little
Grassy Creek within the Seneca II permit boundary (Map 7) were examined on October 10, 2008.
Part of this reach of the drainage lies within a natural channel (Photographs 59 through 61 and 63
through 65) and part lies within mine reclamation in a recreated channel (Photographs 62 and
66). The purpose of this preliminary characterization was to generate a rough idea of the extent
of obligate hydrophytes that might evidence the presence of wetland conditions and at the same
time also assess the extent of adjacent area that though subirrigated likely was not wetland in the
formal (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, USACOE) sense. This effort was reconnaissance in
nature and not intended to satisfy USACOE delineation criteria.
The area along Little Grassy Creek surveyed extended from north to south along a distance of
approximately 1.3 mi. (see Map 7). Another side - drainage extends down across reclamation from
the east then runs parallel to Little Grassy Creek before joining it near the north end of the studied
reach (Map 7). The vegetation of this side drainage was also included in this reconnaissance.
• 34
