2010 Annual Report
Snyder Quarry
M-1977-210
Castle Concrete Company
Anniversary Date: May 27
Overview of Permit Year: During the 2009-2010 operating year Snyder Quarry was very active with the
landslide at the Pikeview Quarry. For the most part mining in Area WP was completed and work commenced
in Area AP. Nearly 150000 tons of material was moved into the northwest corner of Area WP to continue the
backfilling of the over-excavation. Additional equipment was moved into the quarry to increase production.
Area AP had a new road constructed to the north end of the permit boundary to facilitate opening up this area.
Annual Report Maps: The map provided in this annual report reflects the technical revision that was
approved in 2009 and includes the affected lands in Area AP.
Affected Lands: The amount of affected land increased by approximately 6.0 acres in the last year as Castle
moved into Area AP. Some production occurred in Area WP in 2009 but by 2010 all production was being
handled by the material being removed from Area AP. This is the land above the existing pit and will be
accessed by a two lane haul road for trucking material off of the higher areas of the quarry.
Reclamation: The site is stable and is not sub)ect to erosion. The storm water management systems were
maintained including cleaning of all culverts and new drainage channel and rip rap on the south side of the
access road into the quarry. Noxious weeds were also sprayed and this will continue. There was a new inlet
installed directly below the gate to the quarry to handle storm water from the quarry.
Expected Activity (2010 - 2011): The operation will continue with an increase in production and sales from
the previous year.
Bonding: This operation is covered under a financial warranty corporate surety arrangement provided by
Westchester Fire Insurance Company.
Castle Concrete 2009-2010 Annual Report M-1977-210 Snyder Quarry Page 1 of 1
