POWERTECh (USA) INC.
4.0 Location of Gamma Survey
Refer to Attachments A and Attachment B for tabulated and map locations of the gamma survey
activities.
5.0 Description of Soil Sampling Methods and Equipment
Depth of soil samples will be collected from 0-5 cm. Number of expected soil samples to be collected is
five. Soil samples will be collected at each air particulate station. Exact locations are noted below.
Areas designated for soil collection will be prepared by digging a 3-4 inch hole with a small clean shovel;
sides of the hole will be scraped to obtain a fresh soil sample; the top 2 inches of soil will be collected.
The sample will be placed into a collection bag or other air-tight container, labeled and sent in for
analysis. The equipment used will be cleaned between sampling locations and gloves will be changed
before each sample collection to prevent cross contamination. Each hole will be back-filled; if grass is
present, the grass will be replaced over the sampled area.
6.0 Location of Soil Sampling Activities
Refer to Attachment A and Attachment B for tabulated and map locations of the surface soil sampling
activities. It is expected that the total number of soil samples to be collected is five. However, if
anomalous gamma survey readings are encountered, additional soil samples may be obtained.
Note to Reviewer:
This second phase gamma-ray survey plan was presented to CDPHE on 25th of May, 2010.
Other than the following recommendations there were no objections:
• add perpendicular transects to the proposed transects to validate survey data
• if anomalous soils are encountered during the survey, additional 0-60cm profile samples be
collected and analyzed
Powertech will incorporate the CDPHE suggestions into the gamma-ray survey effort.
Addendum 1
