*Broadcast rate is double the drilled rate. <br />Seed Mix #2 will also be used for seeding mesic sites associated with sediment pond <br />construction. These areas include spillway areas, low water lines, affected drainageways <br />and other associated disturbance areas exhibiting mesic conditions. <br />The following varieties are recommended for the species included in Seed Mix #2: <br />Common Name <br />Thickspike wheatgrass <br />Western wheatgrass <br />Slender wheatgrass <br />Smooth brome <br />Alfalfa, prostrate type <br />Canada Bluegrass <br />Alkali sacaton <br />Recommended Variety <br />Critana <br />Arriba <br />San Louis <br />Lincoln <br />Spredor 2 <br />Ruebens <br />Native <br />The above varieties are preferred but do not constitute the only available adapted <br />varieties. Any seed availability problems associated with the above recommended <br />varieties will require that the next best adapted variety or native /common types be used. <br />The alternate selections will be made from regional sources. <br />4.2a Site Variation Adaptability of Seed Mix #2 <br />Dry Sites: All species, but degree of adaptability varies. <br />Moist Sites: All species listed. <br />Warm Season: Medicago, Sporobolus. <br />Cool Season: Agropyron, Bromus, Medicago, Poa. <br />Fine Textured Sites: Agropyron trachycaulum, Agropyron smithii, Medicago, Sporobolus, <br />Bromus, Poa. <br />Coarse Textured Sites: Agropyron dasystachyum, Medicago, Bromus, Poa. <br />Comments: Rhizomatous species include: Agropyron smithii, Agropyron <br />dasystachyum, Bromus inermis, Poa compressa.
