2) Prime Farmlands - Any area or field where the majority of soils within the field are considered
prime farmland soils, where the area has historically been irrigated and intensely managed for
value crops such as alfalfa, com, etc., and where there has been and still is an adequate and
dependable supply of water for irrigation. In the reclamation plan, lands that meet this criteria have
been designated as Irrigated Cropland (IC). For bond release, these lands must meet all the
requirements of prime farmlands in the DRMS rules.
3) Irrigated Cropland - This is a pre -mine and post -mine land use category (IC) which is based
on lands meeting the prime farmland criteria. The acreage of Irrigated Cropland in the pre -mine
category could be different than that in the post -mine category, since water availability could
change. This is the case with the Morgan fields in the SW comer of the permit area.
(Revised October 09) 2.04.9 -18
