FIELD OFFICE
DIVI&ON OF
RECLAMATION MINING & SAFETY
Enclosed are signed copies of the well permits for seven core holes 2010-26-198-1C, 2010-26-198-2C,
2010-26-198-3C, 2010-26-198-4C, 2010-26-198-5C, 2010-26-198-6C, and 2010-26-198-7C, located in
Township 1 South, Range 98 West, Section 6, SE, 6th p.M. It is our understanding the intention is to drill
only four of the proposed seven the core holes. The additional permits allow flexibility in determining
which and how many of the remaining core holes may be required. Access to the core holes is west off
of Rio Blanco County Road 31.
The following are conditions of approval that apply to construction activities involved with the 2010
- core drilling program:- - - - --- - - - - - - - - - - _, _ .
1. To reduce the long-term influence of industrial occupation on the integrity of sagebrush habitats for
resident wildlife, it is recommended that minor siting adjustments be made to 3 of the proposed
access routes, namely, it is suggested that access to the 3C, 6C, and 7C pads be routed along the
margins, rather than bisecting, existing sagebrush parks (see attached Map).
2. Interim reclamation of the well pad is required. Interim reclamation involves re-contouring the site
to maximize the extent of disturbance available for reclamation, leaving the minimum area necessary
for routine production and maintenance activities or as necessary to accommodate BLM authorized
development plans. Desired vegetation shall be established on as much of the disturbance as
practicable to minimize soil erosion, inhibit noxious and invasive weed establishment, allow for the
advance of successional processes, and provide specified components of desired plant community
and wildlife habitat over the productive life of the well pad.
3. Interim reclamation on the well pad shall be completed prior to the beginning of the next full
growing season after the final well is completed. If project timing cannot accommodate this goal,
recontouring work should be deferred such that reclamation seed can be applied to a fresh seedbed
the first fall after that first subsequent growing season. Application of seed will be avoided between
April and August, but BLM will consider exceptions-on a case-by-case basis. -
United States Department of the Interior
BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMEN
White River Resource Area
