Please note that surface water
samples and flow quantity will be collected from all sampling sites. Included in the sampling program are two samples
from the La Plata River and two from Little Deadwood Gulch.. One sample from Little Deadwood Gulch will be taken
above the Lamb Portal and one below the May Day Level 2 permit boundary. In addition, as noted on Exhibit E-6 a
surface water sample will be obtained from the spring (below Idaho) that discharges to the La Plata River. A total of
five samples and one duplicate sample for Quality Assurance/Quality Control purposes will be collected.
Samples and flow data will be obtained using R2 Incorporated's Standard Operating Procedures-
• SOP 1 Surface Water and Seeps
• SOP 2 Stream Flow Measurements
• SOP 8 Field Equipment Calibration
• SOP 52 Photos
Samples will be field filtered in the field and sent to a certified laboratory for analysis under established sample
management protocols. Each sample will be analyzed for the analytes summarized in Table 1.
Ground Water (Deferred)
If needed groundwater samples will be obtained from either the underground workings or through the construction of
groundwater wells. The preferred method is to obtain representative samples from the underground workings.
Whole Rock Sample
Run of mine rock is currently stored on the May Day Level 2 bench. Five one pound samples will be randomly selected
and composited to form one sample that will be sent to the laboratory for analysis under established Chain of Custody
procedures. Samples will be analyzed using established laboratory protocols for:
• Acid-Base Accounting;
• Whole rock analysis; and
• Synthetic Precipitation Leachate Potential (SPLP) with the leachate analyzed for the same analytes
as Table 1.
`.Strategically Positioned - Technically Prepared'
8034 East Eastor Place, Sulte 100, Centennial, CO 80112
303.8327664
