Thank you for this timely submittal. Although the plan
was substantially adequate, DRMS would like the following items to be addressed prior
to approving the plan and Holcim commencing with groundwater sampling activities.
• Please show the CKD area on the site map along with the well locations.
• Please show historical groundwater flow direction if this information is available.
• If the well construction logs for MW-4 cannot be located we will need a
determination of the total depth and screened interval to be provided by some
other method (down-hole camera or other).
• Has any hydraulic conductivity testing been completed on any of the existing
wells? If so what were the results, if not, this data should be obtained.
• What are the proposed "benchmark" levels for the constituents based on your
proposed methodology using the historical data? How will the "outlier" data to
be discarded in these calculations be determined?
• The sampling methodology described states that some low yield wells may
produce insufficient volume to fill all required bottles. Would it be possible to
return the following day after the well has had time to recharge to fill any
remaining bottles?
• Sampling date and reporting units are not included on some of the data tables.
Please include sample dates and units on all data tables for both historical and
future data.
Office of office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
