Moores Pit
1. Huddleston-Berm-
#00966-0001
04/28/10 -'
With regard to Pond 2, while this pond is somewhat higher than Highway 141 (-50 ft), the pond
is located approximately 250 feet away from the roadway. In addition, Pond 2 is located within
an existing drainage - not above the steep slopes immediately adjacent to Highway 141. As a
result, Pond 2 is not anticipated to impact Highway 141.
Concerning the issue relating to stormwater infiltrating and perching on a less permeable
material, HBET understands that the stoney clay loam soil shown on the drawings was arbitrarily
assigned based upon information from the USDA Soil Conservation Service soil survey maps.
However, the slopes above and below Highway 141 were observed to be comprised entirely of
sand, gravel, and cobble materials consistent with the materials currently being mined. HBET
observed no evidence of a clay seam or other'low permeability material which may act to perch
water which infiltrates from the stormwater ponds.
In general, based upon our observations at the site, provided the stormwater detention ponds
perform as designed, HBET does not believe that saturation and/or seepage will impact the
stability of the dense gravel and cobble materials which comprise the slopes above and below
Highway 141 in the vicinity of the site.
We are -pleased -to be -of-service °to -your-project.
