United States Natural Resources Kremmling FieldOffice
US Department of Conservation 106 South 2nd Street
Agriculture Service P. O. Box 265
(NRCS) Kremmling, CO 80459
Telephone: (970) 724-3456 hftp://www.co.nres.usda.gov Fax: 1;970) 724-0807
Joe Docheff
3-3-2010
' 3933 CR 3
Parshall, CO 80468
Mr. Docheff,
This letter and information was developed by the USDA-NRCS in
response to your request for soils, vegetation and reclamation
information for the existing proposed Parshall Gravel Pit
expansion (112 permit) located in T1N R78W sec 31 off GRR 3
south of Parshall.
A field visit was not made at this time due snow cover on the
' site. A field visit was made to the site by me on May 5, 1997
as part of your original request for information for your 110
permit application. Another field visit was made to the pit in
Sept. 2006 to make Diffuse Knapweed control recommendations.
The soils and vegetation on the proposed gravel pit expansion
have not changed since my original field visit and report dated
May 12,1997. Since the intended post mining land use is still
pasture/range I refer you to the original report that was
developed in 1997. Soils in the expansion area are #83-Tine
cobble sandy loam. I am reasonably sure that the existing
vegetation is still the same as was documented on corm range
condition inventory dated 4-5-1997. The reclamation and
revegetation recommendations still stand, just for more acres.
Lastly, I cannot over emphasize the need to monitor for,and
control noxious weeds at the existing pit and any expansion.
There is knapweed, yellow toadflax and leafy spurge very close
to the pit. Keep topsoil stockpiles seeded to crrass and treat
any new weed infestations as they appear. Don't, let a few stray
weeds become a major infestation!
' If you need further assistance please don't hesitate to contact
our office.
' MarVolt
District Conservationist
The Natural Resources Conservation Service works hand-in-hand with
the American people to conserve natural resources on private lands 1-2, AN EQUAL OPPROTUNITY PROVIDER AND EMPLOYER
