Amendment
for the 2009 Annual Reclamation Report, Prime Farmland Suitable Soil with Laboratory
Results.
Dear Ms. Marcia Talvitie
Western Fuels Colorado has just completed the Suitable Soil study for the Backwards Plan of Prime
Farmland lay down. This study concentrates on what would be considered the B-Lift in the Prime
Farmland area of our current Permit. The study results are attached. The summary for the results
showed only one sample fails any of the approved parameters. This sample is SS-32 and it failed only
one parameter; conductivity. Sample SS-32 was collected once in 2008 and again in 2010. The
conductivity results were approximately the same being 7.33mmhos/cm and 7.39mmhos/cm
respectively. The approved conductivity limit for B-Lift soil is 6.00mmhos/cm. Intermediate soil
samples were taken in 2008 in the north, east, and west sides approximately 150ft from SS-32. A
southern sample was not taken due to a top soil pile location. The results from the three intermediate
soil samples all passed the approved B-Lift parameters as well as conductivity with the max result of
3.92mmhos/cm.
If you have any questions or comments please contact me at 970.864.7590, or email tfry@wfcnucla.org.
Sincerely,
E
Thomas D.
