A search of the Colorado Cultural Resource Inventory database indicates that several cultural resource inventories have been conducted near the proposed project area and at least one historic property is located therein. Site 5AA663 was recorded in 1979 and it was recommended that additional data were needed in order to assess its eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). We recommend that the operator avoid these sites or that additional inventory be conducted to determine the effect of the proposed project on these resources. If site avoidance is not possible, we recommend further consultation with our office in order to identify options to avoid, minimize, or mitigate the adverse effect to the sites. Should human remains be discovered during mining activities the requirements under State law CRS 24-80 part 13 apply and must be followed. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
