Martin
Executive Director
Loretta E. Pineda
Director
The Division has reviewed Blue Mountain Energy's (BME) Sediment Pond Report for First Quarter 2010 for
the Deserado Mine. The report was received on April 27, 2010. The Deserado Mine has 21 permitted ponds.
The ponds were inspected by BME personnel on March 29, 2010.
The only pond that reportedly discharged during first quarter 2010 was the Raw Water Lagoon. The Raw
Water Lagoon is a freshwater storage pond the stores water from the White River for operational use within
the mining operation. This pond does not treat runoff from disturbed locations, nor does it treat mine water.
The only concern identified during the quarterly inspection was some animal burrowing on RP-2/3 and RP-4.
BME's report indicates that these burrows have been filled in and repaired. No other problems were reported.
The reports are in compliance with Rule 4.05.6(13). Thank you for your prompt submittal of these reports.
Sincerely,
Janet H.
Protection Specialist II
C:/jhb/C81018/Reports/pond inspections/1St Q 2010.doc
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
