Permit Amendment (AM-06) - Climax Mine
• A-2 Affected Area Description
•
The proposed affected area encompasses a total of 7,854 acres. The proposed affected area is shown
on Figure AM-06-13-01 (Exhibit B) and the 1980 and 1997 approved affected land boundaries are shown
in relation to the proposed affected area boundary on Figure AM-06-C-01 (Exhibit C).
The proposed affected area boundary was selected to encompass areas that have the potential to be
disturbed during future mining and reclamation activities and to encompass the area between the existing
interceptors. Because signage of the entire affected land boundary is impractical, permanent landmarks
and consistent offsets have been defined to make the affected area boundary easier to identify in the
field. Table A-2 outlines the landmarks and offsets used for each stretch of the proposed affected area
boundary.
Table A-2: Affected Area Boundary Landmarks for Field Identification
Offset
Boundary Section Landmark or Site Feature Used feet
Fremont Pass to SW corner of Eagle
Park Reservoir Southernmost reclaimed pipeline 100
Columbine Pipeline Corridor Anticipated pipeline corridor 200
To include water management facilities
West side of Eagle Park Reservoir at the base of 4 Dam
Northwest corner of Eagle Park
Reservoir to Searle Creek West Interceptor Road 250
Searle Creek to Surge Riser above 5
Dam West Interceptor Road 300
Surge Riser to northernmost boundary
corner 1980 a roved affected area boundary
Tenmile Creek to Highway 91 near
Humbug Ditch Reclaimed as line right of way East side
Supply Canal No. 1 (Humbug Ditch)
Disturbance on Climax Property Disturbed Area (parking lot, road, ditch 100
Humbug Ditch off Climax Property Center line 15
Humbug Ditch Parking Lot to South side
of Clinton Reservoir Highway 91 West side
Clinton Reservoir Parkin area 1980 approved affected area boundary
Clinton Reservoir Parking area to
McNulty Interceptor Highway 91 East Side 100
Around McNulty OSF and the Open Pit Anticipated mining disturbance and
to Storke Yard watershed breaks
Storke Yard to Highway 91 Count Road South side
Hwy 91 along Arkansas Pond Highway 91 North side
Current or past disturbance (pipeline,
Arkansas Well to Fremont Pass topsoil stockpiles) 50
A-3 Main Entrance Location
The main entrance to the Climax Mine is located at Northing 4358290.4, Easting 397673.4; North
American Datum (NAD) 1983, Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) Zone 13N, measured in meters.
Figure AM-06-B-01 (Exhibit B) shows the location of the main entrance on a topographic map in
• accordance with HRMMR §6.4.1 (2).
Exhibit A A-6 May 2010
