Map 3.02.2 M1 in the PSCM permit application shows the bond release status of the 3,068 acres of
land proposed for transfer from the Seneca II Mine permit area to the PSCM permit area. Of those
lands, 1,697.1 acres have received Phase I bond release, 1,211.4 acres have received Phase II bond
release, and 257.7 acres have received Phase III bond release. The lands that have received Phase III
release are lands where surface coal mining operations activities commenced prior to the enactment
of the federal Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act. Backfilling and grading has been
completed on all lands to be transferred except where structures remain that have been approved as
permanent. All regraded disturbances have been covered with topsoil and revegetated, with the
exception of an 8.1-acre tract located in Section 11, Township 5 North, Range 87 West. This 8.1-
acre tract has a Phase I bond release application in review (Seneca 11 Mine, SL-4).
Upon completion of underground mining at the PSCM, the following reclamation tasks will be
performed on surface disturbances: portals will be sealed, structures will be demolished and
transported for disposal off-site, the surface will be regraded to approximate original contour,
drainage will be re-established, topsoil from the stockpile will be replaced on disturbed areas to a
minimum depth of 12 inches, seeding and shrub transplanting will be performed for providing
erosion control and for supporting the postmining land uses of rangeland, wildlife habitat, and
recreation.
Peabody Sage Creek Mine 14 May 7, 2010
