May, P.E.', Project Engineer <br />Inspection Date: Quarterly Inspection, April 4, 2010 <br />R <br />•R:••.. ??;• <br />M <br />NAU <br />Ponds: The inlets, outlets and embankments of both ponds were inspected and appear <br />in good condition. The west pond.is seen in photo'1:.Both ponds should be cleaned as <br />per the schedule. ` <br />Drainage Ditches:.The drainage channels. on the sides of the waste rock pile, appear in <br />good general condition. Photo 2 shows top of the north side cleanwater near the access <br />road. There is no sign of coal waste contamination in this ditch but there is a spot where <br />the road fill has been pushed into the ditch. The upper and lower yards are all in good <br />shape, photo 3, including the major drainage that enters the mine site near the adit and <br />the clean water ditch that runs behind the office toward the meadow photo 4. All other <br />ditches and drainage structures were inspected and appear in good operating condition. <br />Except where noted, all drainage features have been constructed and are operating as <br />stated in the drainage plan submitted to the Division of Minerals and Geology. <br />Coal-Waste Pile: The face of the waste pile, Photo 5 appears stable and in good <br />condition. Care should be taken to assure that the slope of this face conforms to that <br />specified. in the design plans. <br />Photo 6 shows the top of the waste pile. In the background piles of fill material awaiting <br />grading can be seen. Care should be taken to assure that the slope of the top surface is <br />maintained and slopes toward the "dirty water" ditch at the grade specified in the design. <br />The side ditches are still filled with snow and could not be inspected. <br />Except for the items mentioned above the fill on the waste pile has been constructed as <br />specified in'the design approved by the Division of Minerals,and Geology.
