Martin
Executive Director
Loretta E. Pineda
Director
We have received your application to revise your permit to conduct coal mining in Colorado. Our initial review
indicates that all preliminary items required by Rule 2.08.4(5) have not been submitted. Thus, your application is
incomplete for the purposes of filing as of May 3, 2010. The Division requests the following information:
1. Please provide more detailed information for each applicable section of the Bowie No. 1 permit
application that explains what is being transferred to the Bowie No. 2 Mine and what will remain with
the Bowie No. 1 Mine. References to the appropriate maps should also be included in the revised text
for each applicable section. Pertinent sections of exhibits may need to be transferred and referenced as
well. The history of the mine's permitting process needs to be retained while also detailing the changes.
2. Please provide the appropriate revised maps that show the permit areas that will be transferred to the
Bowie No. 2 permit application. The history of the Bowie No. 1 permit area should be retained as well.
The Division understands that the Bowie No. 1 permit application incorrectly identifies the coal seam
that was mined as being the D-2 coal seam, instead of the B-2 coal seam. Please provide revised text
pages and maps that correct this misidentification.
4. Of the three copies of BRL's responses, please provide one copy that has the text revisions highlighted
in grey scale and strikeout.
In accordance with Rule 2.07.3(1), you may amend, review, or otherwise make your application complete.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely
i -'a"O"P
1
Josep J.1D ash
`"Environmental Protection Specialist
JJD/Ahd
cc: Jim Stover, J.E.
