Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
Department of Natural Resources ?'
1313 Sherman St., Room 215 Ilk 0 3 2010
Denver, Colorado 80203
Di\,*k)n of Kmci;ns",
k4lnft and Safety
Regarding: Submittal of Amendment No. 1 to the Ruby Trust 110(2) Permit (M-1979-181):
for the provision of milling capabilities within the existing Permit Boundaries of the
Ruby Trust Mine Site.
To Whom it May Concern;
Please find attached the necessary components for an 'Amendment' (AM-01) application to the
existing Ruby Trust mine site reclamation permit (M-1979-181).
We wish to amend the existing permit to include a gravity mill that will contain facility
elements to crush mined rock on-site. Certain aspects of the gravity mill will be outside on the
surface, while finer crushing elements will be housed underground. The mill relies entirely
upon gravimetric methods and does not include any reagent processing process. This
amendment also includes the stockpiling of subgrade milled materials underground until they
can economically be recovered (then the materials will likely be removed and shipped to the
suitable facility, or other). A suitable underground repository for this subgrade material is
currently available within the existing Ruby Trust workings that occurs over 100 feet above the
groundwater table. This repository is comprised of an historic crosscut that provides suitable
area to store the projected amounts of subgrade ore to be mined at the Ruby Trust for next
several years. The location of the potential repository will keep subgrade material from
significant contact with groundwater. A thorough assessment of the potential hydrologic
balance impacts attributable to these proposed amendment activities is provided in EXHIBIT C.
This package contains one original and two copies of the following items;
a) The standard 'Hard Rock/Metal Mining Limited Impact Operation (110(2)) Reclamation
Permit Application Package'
b) Exhibits A, B, C, D, E, F,1, J, L and an evaluation of the Geotechnical Stability Exhibit
c) a check for Amendment Fees from the Mount Sneffels Mining Company, LLC
