Fall 2009 Subsidence and Geologic Field Observations
Box Canyon, Apache Rocks, and South of Divide Mining Areas
visited photographic observation points), and to record their condition for future reference (Maps
1-4).
Thirteen photographic observation points have been established since 2007 (see Maps 1 and 2) to
view and assess changes that may occur as a result of mining. Many of these locations had been
used for annual comparative purposes even before their most recent formalized establishment.
Two photographic observation points were established in the spring of 2007, seven points were
established in the fall of 2007, two points were established in the spring of 2008, and two
additional points were added during the fall 2009 site visit.
The number designations for these photographic observation points do not reflect the order in
which they were established but rather the order in which they were visited during the fall 2007
field visit. This convention will be maintained (see Maps 1 and 2) with the exception of any new
photographic observation locations added as deemed appropriate.
All of these photographic observation points were visited during the October 24-27, 2009 field
visit (see Maps 1 and 2 for these locations and associated number designations) except
Photographic Observation Point 6. This location was visited during spring 2009 to obtain a
panoramic photograph for comparison purposes. Given the spring visit, a fall photograph was
considered unnecessary because this location is an overview of the Box Canyon Mining Area
south of the Dry Fork of Minnesota Creek, which will not be mined for several additional years.
•
831-032.791
April 2010
Wright Water Engineers, Inc.
Page 16
