• EXHIBIT C -MINING PLAN
1. General Plan
Gravel will be excavated from the Soderquist site to a maximum depth of 53 feet. Front end loaders will
perform most of the mining and place the material into mining trucks or directly into a mobile crusher.
Mining has taken place primarily on the eastern portion of this site up to the end of 2009. With the swap
of undisturbed areas as part of this amendment, future mining is expected to proceed to the west.
A stockpile area will be utilized, as shown on Map C-2.
No blasting will take place at Soderquist.
2 Water Information Rights and Augmentation
No water rights or augmentation will be necessary since no consumptive use will occur during mining.
The extremely low production does not warrant watering of material or roads.
3 Drainage Facilities and Hydrologic Impacts
Ground water is not expected to be contacted during mining. If ground water is exposed, Montrose
County will backfill the exposed ground water hole and maintain all further mining at two feet above the
elevation at which ground water was exposed.
Surface water will be both contained on site and diverted around the site. A small (2.5' deep) diversion
ditch will be placed along the west and south sides of the pit up hill of the mining operation. This will
prevent surface water from the surrounding area from entering the pit during a storm. Precipitation that
falls in the pit itself will gather at the sump shown on Map C-2 and evaporate or infiltrate into the local
ground. A berm will be built along the east side of the pit during mining to contain storm water that falls
on site. This berm will be four feet tall with a maximum of 2H:1 V side slopes, except at the road
crossing where it will have 51-1: IV slopes. This berm will be vegetated to prevent erosion during mining.
No storm water will discharge from the site.
0 Soderquist Pit March 10 9
