i
Page 2
The reference to `Footnote 5' (rather than Footnote 4) above is either
a typo, or a result of a deleted footnote in a later revision. In any
case, Point 008 has not exceeded 1,000 ug/l for iron (total or total
recoverable) since March 1988. The attached water quality statistics
report for this outfall from 4/1/88 to 1/31/2010 indicates no
exceedances during that time frame (note that this report gives values
in mg/1) . Furthermore, the March 2, 2010 sample from this outfall had
a total recoverable iron value of only 380 ug/l; indicate that
whatever had caused the February excursion has resolved itself. The
cause of the excursion is unknown, but perhaps it was caused when the
snow was removed, by shovel, around the discharge pipe. Perhaps the
pipe was inadvertently bumped, causing material that had been
deposited inside the pipe to be knocked loose.
Please contact me at 970-276-5209 if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Dennis Jones
Hydrologist I
cc: Mr. Dan Mathews
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203-2273
Mr. Dan Mathews
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
101 South 3rd, Suite 301
Grand Junction, CO 81501
