if this is the proposed mining method.
5) The mine plan map shows the stockpile for the Phase III overburden located over two drainages in Phase II.
What measures will be implemented to protect the overburden stockpiles from a major storm event?
- Response Adequate
6) Once mining moves from Phase I into Phase II, what portion of Phase I and Phase II will be disturbed?
Also, please specify the maximum proposed disturbance in acres. This information is required to accurately
calculate a reclamation cost estimate.
- The response submitted states that 10 acres is the proposed maximum disturbance. Will the existing 9.9
acres of disturbance be completely reclaimed and revegetated prior to moving into Phase II?
7) The power line drawn on the mine plan map does not appear to reflect what was observed during the
January 6, 2010 inspection. The power line observed appeared to run along the majority of the southern
permit boundary. Please confirm that the mine plan map submitted is accurate.
- Response Adequate
8) In Exhibit E on page 1, in the Backfilling and Grading section, it is stated that "efforts will be undertaken to
minimize compaction of the soil structure degradation." Please specify what depth of soil will be
backfilled. According to the mine plan map, slopes will be mined to 3H:1V. Please clarify if the backfill
methods described in the reclamation plan are consistent the quantities described in the table located on
page three of the mine plan.
- Response Adequate
9) Per Rule 3.1.5(3), please state what method of compaction will be used to insure stable slopes.
- Please see Geotechnical Exhibit Review.
10) Per Rule 6.4.5(2)(c), please provide a description of how the reclamation plan will be implemented to meet
each applicable requirement of Section 3.1.
- Response Adequate
11) Please clarify what growth medium will be used if topsoil cannot be salvaged and what depth will it be
replaced on the re-graded slopes.
- Response Adequate
12) Please provide all inputs and calculations used to determine the flows that are on the "Off Site Drainage
Map" in Exhibit G.
- Please read the enclosed memo from Berhan Keffelw that reviews Exhibit G.
13) The proposed additional acreage is above and adjacent to Highway 141. What measures will be
implemented to protect highway 141?
- Please read the enclosed memo from Allen Sorenson Geotechnical Exhibit Review.
14) Per Rule 6.4.19 provide one of the following:
