Box 1507
Pagosa Springs, CO 81147
Re: Eagle Mountain Gravel Pit
Dear Mr. Feyen and Commissioners:
APR 16 2010
DiYiWn of Rzdama on,
Ahining rnd Safety
This letter addresses the potential offsite traffic generated by the development of the. proposed
Eagle Mountain Gravel Pit. In evaluating the potential traffic. impact created by the proposed
gravel pit, we have considered the traffic flow created by employees, construction. equipment
traffic flow, and traffic flow created by disbursement of gravel. mined from the pit.
The proposed Eagle Mountain Gravel Pit is not intended for commercial use. Current plans are
to develop the gravel pit for use in onsite road construction for the surrounding development.
The proposed gravel pit has the potential to provide all necessary gravel for the development
eliminating the necessity of importing gravel from offsite pits.
Access to the gravel pit. will be via the existing roadway from Cloman Drive. The proposed
gravel pit operations will require no more than 4 employees. The number of trips generated by 4
employees on a daily basis would have minimal impact on adjacent roadways.
Crushing will be conducted onsite approximately once a year as needed. Crushed gravel will be
stockpiled at. the pit. Equipment for the crushing operations will be hauled only during
mobilization and demobilization. The development has adequate water rights to provide all
necessary construction water onsite, therefore no offsite water trucks will be used for dust
abatement. All of the construction traffic will be contained within the project development site,
utilizing proposed roads within the development as they are constructed.
Based on the above information, there will be no offsite traffic generated by the development of
the Eagle Mountain Gravel Pit, other than the four operators reporting to work, and minimal
mobilization and demobilization of crushing equipment.
If you have any questions or require further information, please call me..
Sincerely
Martin.
